Hemberg
The climatic health resort of Hemberg, 945m, is a hilltop village in a scenic location on a ridge between Toggenburg and Neckertal. Spectacular views of the Alpstein massif and attractive Appenzellerland.

The area around Hemberg and neighbouring Bächli is ideal hiking territory. Several theme trails have been created around Hemberg, including the Häuserweg (Buildings Trail), Moorweg, (Moorland Trail) Kulturweg (Culture Trail) and the «Chnobelweg» (Brainteaser Trail), five points with puzzles to make you scratch your head! The region’s best known theme trail is the Neckiweg, with four routes between Mogelsberg, St. Peterszell and Hemberg. The Neckis are mythical creatures that live in Neckertal. «Hucky» from Hemberg inhabits the high moorland known as Salomonstempel.
The countryside with its typical scattered settlements and beautiful, flower-bedecked Toggenburg houses is ideal to explore by bike. There are 18 biking routes to choose from in the area around Hemberg, all shown in detail on a map of Toggenburg bike routes. Hemberg is also on the Cycling in Switzerland Alpine Panorama Route Nr. 4.
In cooperation with the WWF, a fruit orchard with old and almost forgotten local species of fruit growing in a near-natural environment has been created in Hemberg. On the banks of the Necker, anglers will find quiet spots to cast their bait and families pleasant places to bathe.
In winter, Hemberg has two skilifts and cross-country ski runs as well as opportunities for winter walking and snowshoe trekking.
