At one time known as a place of convalescence for lung patients because of its sunny, mild climate, Leysin at the foot of the Tour d'Aï, has developed into an all-year-round holiday resort since the opening of a Club Med holiday facility in 1950. SUMMER


The Enzian Park with its many medicinal plants is a reminder of the village’s earlier days as a health resort. The village museum and the La Fromagerie show dairy provide an insight into the traditions of mountain and Alpine farming.
250 km of hiking trails, mountain trails and interesting bike tours promise plenty of exercise in the open air. Mountain climbers will find numerous challenges on the Dolomite-like craggy sandstone faces. The demanding fixed-rope route on the Tour d'Aï is strictly for experts only. And you’ll need good brakes on the steep bike tour through the Tal der Grande Eau down to Aigle, the centre of the cycle sport world.


WINTER


Skiers and snowboarders can get their kicks in the superb skiing area with its 17 skilifts and snow park with halfpipe or on ski tours or snowshoe treks. Rounding off the options are a snow-sport school, illuminated cross-country runs and a sledge run. The nearby holiday resort of Les Mosses/La Lécherette offers a family-friendly skiing area and plenty of space for cross-country skiers.
