Rotkreuz
The industrial and business centre of Rotkreuz im Canton Zug is strongly influenced by traffic: railway lines and motorways branch off and intersect here. Rotkreuz also has the largest golf complex in Central Switzerland

Rotkreuz is a small town in the municipality of Risch in Canton Zug. While Rischen enjoys a picturesque location on the Zugersee lake and has many villas, Rotkreuz is the district’s commercial centre with numerous industrial and other businesses. The railway station has played a major role in the development of Rotkreuz, with four lines radiating out from the town: towards Luzern and towards Zug (Zugcity railway), towards Arth-Goldau and the Gotthard and south towards Lenzburg. All focus on freight traffic. Rotkreuz station is primarily an important hub for north-south rail freight traffic over the Gotthard. The town is also on the motorway, close to the Rütihof triangle (Lucerne, Zug/Zurich and Gotthard).
South of Rotkreuz is the Rooterberg, a nearby excursion destination for hikers and bikers. A lido in the Buonas district of Risch waits to welcome visitors. One tiny sightseeing attraction is the parish church of St. Verena, attractively sited high above the Zugersee. In contrast, Buonas and Freudenberg Castles are privately owned and not open to the public.
Holzhäusern, also belonging to the municipality of Risch, has the largest golf facility in Central Switzerland. In addition to 18, 9 and 6-hole courses with fantastic views of the nearby Zugersee, amenities are enhanced by a Golfdrome and an indoor facility. The golf complex is open to all golfers subject to specific regulations.
