The three mountain villages of Brigels, Waltensburg and Andiast form a compact and family-friendly holiday region in the Surselva’s Anterior Rhine Valley (Vorderrhein) area. The 'Families Welcome' quality certificate furthermore bears testimony to the destination's family friendliness.

From Brigels, the centre of the holiday region, and Waltensburg there are mountain transport facilities to the ski and hiking area respectively. From Andiast the link services are accessible easily and quickly. With quite a few things being within comfortable reach on foot even the car can enjoy a break on the sunny mountain terrace. And the tradition-rich eco Hotel Uclive in Waltensburg makes a conscious effort to treat visitors to organic and local produce.

Summer

In the region 150 kilometres of marked hiking trails lie at the feet of hikers. There are also possibilities for longer tours, such as, for example, the Three-Pass-Tour over the Kisten, Panixer and Richteli Passes to the Canton of Glarus or the Senda Sursilvana, the 'star' of high-altitude hiking trails, which extends for 100 kilometres from Chur to the Oberalp Pass. There are a great many things to explore including the "Uaul Scatlè", Europe's highest primeval pine forest, castle ruins, historic churches and chapels and the spraying waterfalls by the Panixer Reservoir.

Mountain biking, catered for with 140 kilometres of marked routes, is a popular alternative and the 9-hole golf course in Brigels and the first water driving range in Europe add another attractive feature for golfers to the region.

Winter

75 kilometres of wide, groomed pistes, the area for free skiing, a boarder cross park and a race course where you can time yourself provide variety in a relaxed atmosphere. Toboggan and winter walking trails, snowtubing, an ice field, snow-shoe treasure hunt with GPS and 15 kilometres of cross-country skiing tracks complete the activities on offer. The family-friendly ski pass prices are a typical feature of the region. The closeness to the Flims-Laax-Falera ski region furthermore makes it possible to explore a large ski area without having to go far. In bad weather a visit to the Vals thermal spa, which is known for its architecture, seems like the obvious thing to do.
