Cycle routes
Cycle routes are generally accessible paths or roads with as far as possible little or no motorized traffic, ideally surfaced with tarmac or concrete. As a rule, on busy roads they are along cycle paths or in lanes with safe crossings or turning-off points.
Cycle paths make no special demands upon the users. See also manual for Grades of Difficulty for Non-Motorized Traffic NMT.

Signalization of cycle routes is red and include a white cycle pictogram. See also

Cycle insurance sticker
According to Art. 50 of the Swiss Traffic Insurance Ordinance, all types of bicycle must display a valid cycle insurance sticker for liability insurance. This does not apply to guests from abroad who only occasionally travel by bicycle in Switzerland.
