The Jura Route leads through captivating countryside, remote fir-forested plateaux away from all hustle and bustle, over numerous Jura passes from Basel to Lac Léman. Along the well-forested border-river La Lucelle into the serene hilly landscape of the Ajoie, across to medieval St-Ursanne on the secluded Jura river, the Doubs.

The plateau of Franches Montagnes, a spacious, peaceful landscape with meadows, firs, grazing cattle and horses. In between, the contrast of La Chaux-de-Fonds, the timepiece metropolis. Mighty houses of stone, high moorland rich in plant life, with droning dragonflies, aromatic Vacherin Mont d'Or cheese, the absinth secret – the Grüne Fee (Green Fairy), dainty music boxes and reserved watchmakers – all permeated by mystical waterways.

The cool, clear charm of Lac de Joux at the foot of a huge forest, mountain farms and hundreds of anthills in the peaceful Parc jurassien vaudois, finally without one push on a pedal, down to cheerful Lac Léman.
