Diversion St. Gallen–Stein AR due to blockage of the «Gangelibrücke» bridge.  
Renovation work on the «Gangelibrücke» bridge between St. Gallen and Stein AR from 18.05.2009 until the end of the year, impede the passage on the cycling routes 4 and 42. Please take note of the local signposting. Thank you for your understanding.

Toggenburg more forested and rugged, a land of nooks and crannies where water once provided work and death. Below the alluvial Linth plain, «Ziegerland» with mighty limestone cliffs, Glarus once a textile region of international importance.

Section 3 Glarus–Flüelen

On the climb to the Klausenpass, the Urnerboden, the largest Swiss alp, the other side of the 1948m pass the Schächental, a mountain landscape with the traditional farming method of moving livestock from one grazing ground to the next.

Alpine Panorama Route
Section 4 Flüelen–Sörenberg

Wild when the föhn wind blows: the mighty Vierwaldstättersee with its impressive panorama. In contrast, the shallow Sarnersee with its Obwalden «Brother Klaus» landscape. A treat for pedal-pushing fans: the Panoramastrasse, the steep pass to Entlebuch.

Section 8 Montbovon–Aigle

Quieter in Obergreyerz and uphill through lonely, rugged Alpine pastures to Hongrin, occasionally resounding with army artillery fire. Intoxicating 1000m descent to the mildness of the Rhonetal, a sensuous downhill run through all climate zones.
